Cascades Park is a Great Place to Spend the Day!

Cascades Park in Tallahassee is a storm water retention pond in disguise as a beautiful park.  Located in the downtown area, Cascades offers a cutting edge outdoor theater, interactive water fountain, children’s play area, and over 2 miles of trails for walking, jogging, or biking.  All of this is for the enjoyment of Tallahassee residents and visitors.  However,  when the need arises, Cascades Park is designed to collect storm water to prevent the flooding of nearby neighborhoods and businesses.

What Cascades Park has to offer

This 24-acre park in downtown Tallahassee is a great place for the whole family to enjoy.  On a  hot day, the Imagination Fountain is a refreshing break from the heat.  You’ll want to pack a change of clothes or swimsuits so the kids can play around the 73 jets that randomly shoots water into the air.

Once the sun goes down, Imagination Fountain becomes a show! Music and lights accompany the water dance in a show that repeats every 15 minutes beginning at dusk. The Imagination Fountain is open for interactive play 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. daily.

Evening Fountain Shows Saturdays & Sundays Only 7:30-9 p.m. every 15min.

Enjoy the many sunny days in the Capital City by taking advantage of the 2.3 miles of paved trails through the park.

The Discovery children’s play area is a great place for kids to get out some energy and also spark their imagination. Some of the obstacles in the Discovery play area include a Cypress Climb, Steephead Slide, Log Jump, Butterfly Garden and Beach Sand area.

The Amphitheater is a 3,500-seat outdoor theater for great shows throughout the year. Seating is arranged in several categories for different needs and budgets.  Permanent/reserved seats are designated by a section, row and seat number.  To gain access to the amphitheater for all ticketed events, a ticket is required. However, there are general admission sections that are open to everyone without the need for a ticket.  Grass seating with a view of the show is available on a first-come basis.  Handicap accessible seats are available.

The downtown 24-acre park extends from Pensacola Street on the north to Monroe Street on the southwest.
